Yvonne Ruth Purcell

Yvonne R. Purcell, 88, of Decatur, IL passed away peacefully on October 3, 2026. Yvonne was born in Rock Lake, ND to Clarence and Elizabeth Booth. She grew up on the farm there in Rock Lake with so many wonderful memories. She was the only family member to move away from the area and land in Decatur, IL. Yvonne worked as a dental assistant in Decatur for many years with Dr. Lee Benett and Dr. Tim Hastings.

She loved taking care of others, baking, sewing, and quilting. She spent many years helping wherever needed. She especially loved volunteering at the Good Samaritan Inn and at her church, Central Christian.

Yvonne was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. The family would like to thank her dear best friend Ellen Miller, who was always by her side for so many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings. She is survived by her daughter Shefina (husband Mike) Gorrell; her son Rick Wilson; 2 grandsons, Ethan (wife Kelsie) and Kyle (wife McKenzie); 3 great-grandchildren, Jase, Gia, and Cameron; her sister Janice Curtis of North Dakota; and many nieces and nephews.

Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home is assisting the family. Private family services will be held In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Good Samaritan Inn.
