Wilmer E. "Bill" German, 84, of Decatur, IL, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur, IL. Masonic services will be held at 5:30 PM Sunday, September 18, 2011, with visitation from 6 to 9 PM, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, September 19, 2011, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown, IL, with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children, 2001 S. Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63131. Wilmer was born November 9, 1926 in Nokomis, IL, the son of Russell E. and Rella (Swaney) German. He married Jeanette E. Watson on June 12, 1948 in Shelbyville, IL. Wilmer worked for ILL-MO Welding for 38 years, retiring in 1989. He was a U.S. Army Air-Corps veteran, serving in the Philippines during WWII. Wilmer enjoyed fishing, playing cards, golfing, crossword puzzles, and spending time with friends and family. He was a member of the Shriners, Elks, Eastern Star, Grotto, Past Master of Great Light Masonic Lodge, and Assistant Scout Master for Troop 24 in Decatur and 103 in Jacksonville. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jeanette of Decatur, IL; children William J. German of Tampa, FL; Larry A. German and wife Sylvia of Tuscaloosa, AL; Edward R. German and wife Nannette of Washington, D.C.; Bonnie J. Huddleston and husband Jerry of Harristown, IL; Cindy S. Boulier and friend Jeremy of Decatur, IL; 15 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren; brothers Wayne E. German and wife Glenda of Dwight, IL; Clyde E. German and wife Skip of Gifford, IL; brother-in-law Fred Myers and wife Mary of Florida; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister. "
