Wilma Pate

Wilma A. Pate, 89, of Decatur, IL, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at Fair Havens Christian Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 23, 2016, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, with visitation from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, September 22, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Harristown Cemetery, Harristown, IL. Wilma was born April 14, 1927, in Sadorus, IL, daughter of Cecil and Alma (Bryan) Whightsil. She married Benjamin L. Pate on July 18, 1949 in Champaign, IL. He preceded her in death on November 2, 1988.Wilma previously worked for Schudels Cleaners, Decatur Memorial Hospital and most recently worked for 1 Hour Cleaners at the drive up window for 17 years. She enjoyed visiting relatives in the West, baking pies, gardening and embroidery. Surviving are her children: Bob Taylor of Tuscola, IL, Sam (Phyllis) Pate of Boody, IL, Gary (Maria) Pate of Decatur, IL Hardy (Deb) Pate of Boody, IL, and Leo (Cheryl) Pate of Houston, Delaware; siblings: Lucille Laughlin of Champaign, IL, Bobby (Frances) Whightsil of Parkville, IL, Phyllis Romine of Atwood, IL, and Gerald Whightsil of Tuscola, IL. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter: Catherine Joan, daughter-in-law: Shirley Taylor, and granddaughter: Tiffany BrownWilma’s family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Fair Havens Christian Home for their loving care during her illness.
