William J. (Bill) Thompson, of Cerro Gordo, Illinois passed away Friday, April 4, 2014 in Aurora, Colorado. Bill was born in Fentress County, Tennessee on November 19, 1913 the son of Charles and Eliza Thompson. Bill worked as a farmer, farming his own land until he retired, he recently celebrated his 100th birthday. Bill married Dorothy Dobson on June 25, 1938. Bill is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Cerro Gordo, now living in Aurora, Colorado; son-in-law: Ted Dreyer; grand-children: Sandi (Dreyer) Coate and Gary Coate (spouse), Steve Dreyer and Judy Smith (spouse); great grandchildren: Chris and Tim Coate, Rodney and Zach Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Delmar, Ray, Noble, Charles, and Robert; six sisters, Nellie, Della, Golda, Wilma, Nova, and Alice and his daughter, Judy Dreyer. A special grave site service will be held at the Cerro Gordo Cemetery, Monday, April 14, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes are handling the arrangements. "
