William "Bill" John Schumacher, 74, of Decatur, passed away on February 24, 2024, at 10:45 AM at his residence.
Visitation will be held 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, March 1, 2024 at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Military Rites by the US Army and Macon County Honor Guard.
Bill was born on February 11, 1950, in Wilkes-Barre, PA, the son of Leo John Schumacher and Ruth Naomi Bloxam. He graduated from Macarthur High School in 1968. Bill proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was the former Service Manager for 45 years beginning his career at Tallman Pontiac Cadillac retiring at Bob Brady Auto Group. He had a passion for model railroading and slot cars. Bill was an avid bowler for many years and had achieved the one-time life goal of a perfect score of 300 pins.
Surviving are his son, Daniel Schumacher; daughters, Leeanne Escobedo and Karen Schumacher; sister, Alice Parsons of San Antonio, TX; sister and brother-in-law, Chris and Jack King of Douglas, Wyoming; companion
Louisa Hunter of Decatur, IL; three nephews; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo Schumacher and Ruth Bloxum; wife, Sally Schumacher; and nephew, George Thompson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bill’s honor may be made to Vietnam Veterans of America or the Humane Society of Decatur and Macon County.
