Bill Rotz

William L. “Bill” Rotz, 72, of Decatur, passed away October 23, 2025 at his home.

Visitation will be 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, Saturday, November 1, 2025 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 130 W Eldorado St, Decatur, IL. Memorial Service will be 12:00 PM, Saturday at the church. Memorials in Bill’s honor may be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church or Allerton Park, 525 Old Timber Rd, Monticello, IL 61856.

Bill was born July 7, 1953 in Decatur, the son of William Rotz, Jr and Gloria (Yakley) Rotz. He married Sara Davis on May 12, 1984. Bill worked at Mueller Co. until his retirement after 30 years of employment. He was a man who approached life with passion. He was passionate about his family and friends, his union, politics, Da Bears, the Cards, the Fighting Illini, and his backyard birds. He had an exuberant personality and enjoyed striking up conversations. No one was a stranger. Bill will be missed by many but never forgotten.

Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Sara Davis; daughters: Rudi (Rob) Patterson of Boulder, CO, and Suzannah Rotz of Decatur; grandchildren: Jackson Bertsch, Lilah Bertsch, Aden Bertsch, Avarie Crutcher, and Westley Smith; sister, Lee Ann Rotz (Mike Novak) of White Heath, IL and brother, David Rotz (Phillip Henry) of Mesa, AZ.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and many dear friends.
