(“Skip”) Roof, Sr., 53, of Decatur, IL, passed away 11:20 p.m., Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday (02-17-2016) at Moultrie County Memorial Park in Bethany, IL. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday (02-16-2016) at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL.Memorials may be made to the family.Skip was born January 26, 1963 in Kankakee, IL, the son of Harry Parker and Alta Joan (Putnam) Roof. He married Nancy J. Waltz on May 5, 1979 in Decatur, IL. Skip was self employed as a painter, enjoyed listening to music, dancing, and drinking Busch beer.He is survived by his children William S. (fiancée Melissa Butcher) Roof II, Starla K. Roof, Devon R. (Ashley) Roof, David E. (fiancée Nicole Cowick) Roof, Samantha L. (Nick) Helm, brother Richard P. Roof; 20 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; all of Decatur, IL.He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Fred Roof, and sister Joan Buchen.Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, is handling the arrangements.
