William “Bill” C. Grubbs, 92, of Decatur passed away peacefully on May 1, 2022 surrounded by his family.Graveside service will be 10:00 AM, Friday, May 6, 2022 at North Fork Cemetery, Decatur. Memorial Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Thursday, May 5, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Memorials in Bill’s honor may be made to: Midwest Sight Foundation, 1714 S. Blaine Lane, Decatur, IL 62521.Bill was born September 13, 1929 in Decatur, the son of Ivan Albert and Carrie Faye (McKown) Grubbs. He proudly served our country in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He married Marjorie Ellen Morr on July 8, 1951 in Decatur. Bill worked as a Manufacturing Engineer for Caterpillar for 35 years until his retirement. He loved to play golf, was an avid reader and a fan of the Chicago Cubs. Bill was a member of South Macon Lodge #469 A.F. & A.M, was past president of the American Society of Manufacturing Engineers, past president of Sinawik Park, and Chairman of Decatur Boys Baseball. He was also a member of Grace United Methodist Church.Bill is survived by his wife of 70 years, Marjorie; children: Susan G. Klukis of Decatur, Steven D. (Jackie) Grubbs of Decatur, Shirlene G. (Don) Bowser of Bethany, Sheena G. Lugten of Decatur, Stuart D. (Robin) Grubbs of Decatur, and Stacy G. (Jeff) Cribbs of Garner, NC; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and sister, Virginia Lou Attwood of Ft. Meyers, FL.He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters and one brother.
