William “Bill” Walter Dresback, 86, went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 14, 2024.
Bill was born July 14, 1937 to Roy Earl and Nora (Lewis) Dresback in Champaign, IL. He was a 1955 graduate of Monticello High School. Bill then attended and graduated from Murray State College, Murray, KY with a BS degree in Science and History. After graduation, he entered the US Army as a 2 nd Lieutenant and attended USA Basic Infantry School and USA Airborne School.
After retiring from the Army, Bill worked as a chemist at Viobin in Monticello, and later at AE Staley in Decatur where he retired in 1989. Bill spent his retirement years gardening, traveling to visit family, and collecting family history.
Bill was blessed with two daughters, Rebecca and Pamela from a previous marriage. On March 28, 1970, Bill married Elaine (Metzger-Haas) and “inherited” two additional daughters, Brenda and Cheryl Haas.
Bill is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elaine; daughter, Pamela Kennedy of Laramie, WY; step-daughters: Brenda Haas-Baughman of Naples, FL and Cheryl (Jeff) Blickensderfer of Oakley, IL; grandchildren: Keeley Smith and Dillon (Paige) Smith, John Blickensderfer, Andrew (Sydney) Baughman and Lindsay Baughman, Stephanie Linehan and Shari Mueller; great-grandchildren: Sawyer, Emma, Brooks, Leo, Vivienne, Julia, Ryan, Jack, Luke and Rose; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Rebecca Cuthbertson; siblings: Roy, Jr., Earl, Carl, Norma, June and Fred.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Monday, June 17, 2024 at the Cerro Gordo Brethren Church. Visitation will be 10:00 – 11:00 AM, Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cerro Gordo Brethren Church in memory of Bill Dresback, 209 S Jefferson St, Cerro Gordo, IL 61818.
