William C. Dixon, 88, of Decatur, IL, died 4:25 a.m., Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Symphony of Decatur in Decatur, IL. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation one hour prior to service time. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Memorials may be made to Experimental Air Craft Association of Decatur, Chapter 274, Hanger 102A, Decatur, IL 62521. William was born October 9, 1925 in Decatur, IL, the son of Wallace Leslie and Fay (Bowers) Dixon. He married Bernice Keller in 1948 and she preceded him in death in 1967. He later married Alice Dixon in 1970 in Decatur, IL. William worked for Wabash Railroad, Norfolk & Western, then Norfolk & Southern, before retiring in 1986 after 39 ½ years. He was a Army Air Corp veteran, flying on 47 missions during WWII in the Pacific Theater. William was a race car builder and owner and an aircraft enthusiast. He was a member of Experimental Aircraft Association. He is survived by his wife Alice of Decatur, IL; stepson John Pryor and wife Zela of Orlando, FL; brother Jack Dixon and wife Sue of Decatur, IL; nephew Robert W. Dixon and wife Joy of Decatur, IL; niece Kim Nailer of Decatur, IL. He was also preceded in death by his parents. "
