"Bill" Boedecker, Sr., 66 of Decatur, lL went to Heaven at 2:30 P.M., Sunday, August 14,2011 at his residence, surrounded by loving family and friends. He had fought a courageous battle with esophageal cancer the past 4 years. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P. M., Thursday, August 18, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Decatur, IL. Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M., Wednesday, August 17, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur lL and one hour prior to service time at the church on Thursday. Burial will be in LaPlace Cemetery, LaPlace, IL. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church Building Fund, 352 W. Wood, Decatur lL 62522 or Cancer Care Specialists of Central lL, 210 W. McKinley, Decatur lL 62526. Bill was born January 18, 1945 in Decatur lL the son of Wilferd E. and Alma (Tiemann) Boedecker. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Bill owned/operated Bill's Shell Station in Decatur, IL and was a Dept. Manager for Sears in Santa Fe, New Mexico until his retirement. He enjoyed volunteering at the Scovill Zoo and Rock Springs Nature Center and as a golf ranger with the Decatur Park District. Bill is survived by his wife Linda Brandon of Decatur lL; sons William Jr. and wife Teri of Peoria, lL, David and companion Becky of Cerro Gordo, lL; grandchildren Megan, Madison, Katie, Jack, Sara, Harley; Step children, Angie Likins, & companion Ben Rhodes of Decatur; Brian McDermith and wife Melissa of Moweaqua; 6 step grandchildren; brothers David Boedecker and wife Billie of Fayetteville, GA, Robert Boedecker and wife Marie of Decatur, IL; sister Carol DeClercq and husband Floyd of Decatur, IL. He also leaves, to cherish his memories, many close friends and his EHS class of '63 "family". Bill was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Barbara and good friend Bill Lowry. Bill enjoyed traveling and visiting in most of the United States in the last 5 years. He especially enjoyed spending time in Florida at their home near Tampa and taking cruises with their close friends Bill and Sheila Lowry and Fred and Ruth Rhoades. Bill also loved and enjoyed their "fur child" Jax. The family would like to thank Dr. Marlon Muneses and Dr. Victor Eloy for his compassion and care these last 4 year, and Janet, Lynn and Kim from St. Johns Hospice., and Pastor Wray Offermann from St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
