Warren Carter

Warren Dale Carter (81), born November 22, 1932 in Decatur, IL, went home to be with The Lord on October 14, 2014 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL. Dale was the ninth and last child born to Thomas Ezra and Rosa Carter. Dale served in the Army from 1953 -1955 in Thule Greenland. Dale married Glenda M. Collier on August, 7, 1954 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Decatur, IL where he served as a Deacon and Church Pianist for over 60 years. He enjoyed working in the yard and was an avid flower gardener, he also enjoyed playing the piano for church, weddings, funerals, and at nursing homes, but most of all, he loved his family. He was employed by A.E. Staley Manufacturing Company for 38 years, working in the mail room as a clerk and retiring as a Purchasing Agent. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, nephews and a niece. He is survived by wife, Glenda, nee Collier, his daughter Gaye Lee (Klingenberg) and husband Eric of Fairview Heights, IL.; granddaughters Alisa (Philip) Grubaugh of Paris, MO. and Dana (Joshua) Hurt of Fairview Heights, IL.; Sisters Freda Dean of McLeansboro, IL. and Beverly Dean of Decatur, IL. and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at held at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Decatur, IL., Friday, October 17, 2014 from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. and funeral services Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with visitation beginning at 9:30. Interment will begin at 2 P.M., at Old Stonington Cemetery in Stonington, IL. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, will be handling the arrangements.
