Wanda L. King, 97 of Decatur, formerly of Assumption, passed away on December 26, 2024 at Fair Havens Senior Living.
Wanda was born on December 25, 1927, a daughter of Arthur and Felma Atwood. She married Raymond King on August 25, 1946 in Hagarstown, IL. He passed on December 12, 1995.
Wanda is survived by her daughter, Esther Cunningham of Danville; son, Alan (B.J.) King of White Heath; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; son, Timothy; son, John; daughter-in-law, Celeste King; son-in-law, Donald Cunningham; parents; sisters, Mary Oehler, Edyth Staff, Ida Mae Nave; and brother, Arthur Atwood, Jr.
Wanda was the bookkeeper at Kings Feed Store in Assumption from its inception until the business was sold and both her and her husband retired. She was an active member of the First Christian Church in Assumption for many years until moving to Pana. While in Pana, she became a member of the Tower Hill Christian Church. She also was the treasurer of the Assumption Women’s Club.
The family wishes to give a special thank you to Marge for the care and love she provided Wanda during her stay at Fair Havens Senior Living.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025 from 9 am until time of the memorial service at 11 am at Assumption Christian Church, 115 N. Walnut St., Assumption. Pastor Anthony Tuel will officiate the service. Graveside committal service will be at 1:30 pm that day at Pleasant View Cemetery, Assumption.
