W. Wayne Dillinger, 100, of Decatur, IL, died Monday, September 15, 2014, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 20, 2014, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, September 19, at the funeral home. Masonic services will be conducted by Stephen Decatur Lodge #979 at 8:00 p.m., Friday, immediately following the visitation. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church. Wayne was born August 10, 1914 in Decatur, IL, the son of William Earl and Myrtle A. (Bear) Dillinger. He married Eileen L. Smith on October 30, 1937 in Terre Haute, IN. She preceded him in death on February 27, 1999. Wayne worked for the U.S. Post Office as a postal clerk for many years. He was a member of Stephen Decatur Masonic Lodge #117 AF & AM, Decatur Chapter Order of Eastern Star, and Leighton Court #1 Order of Amaranth. Wayne served in the Civilian Conservation Corp. and was also active in NARFE and the Macon County Historical Society. A book of his poetry was published in 1990. He was a former member of Trueblood Memorial United Methodist Church and attended Christ United Methodist Church. He is survived by his daughters Wanda and husband John Karolus of Kirkland, IL, Joanne Gara and husband Joe Rotman of Lake Barrington, IL, Jane and husband James Crawford of Omaha, NE; grandchildren Susan Beckman and husband Rob, Kathryn Hollingsworth and husband Michael, Sarah Daley and husband Dan, Martha Olson and husband Ryan; great grandchildren Mikayla, Robert, Amanda, Lauren, Darren, Carter. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Eileen, infant son Kenton W. Dillinger, granddaughters Jennifer, Kelly and Lindsay Gara, infant brother Floyd W. Dillinger, sisters Velma P. Smith, V. Marie Roarick, and Bernice Biggers. "
