Vivian Marie Tennison, 92, of Decatur, IL, died Monday, July 16, 2012, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 20, 2012, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation 5 to 7 P.M., Thursday, July 19, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL, with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to Summit Avenue Baptist Church, Decatur, IL. Vivian was born in Decatur, IL, on October 18, 1919, the daughter of the late Wesley Lang and Nora E. (Wray) Lang. She was reared by the Wray family due to the early death of her parents. Vivian entered the U.S. Navy and was a graduate of Bethesda, MD Hospital Corp. She was a U.S. Navy veteran. Vivian married George Orville Tennison on October 5, 1946 in Decatur, IL. He preceded her in death on July 31, 2009. Vivian helped her husband on the farms and assisted in the building of the Tennison Subdivision and several homes. He was a registered builder. Vivian was a member of the Salem Baptist Church and Macon County Farm Bureau. She worked in the National Youth Association at the Quincy Hospital and in several homes with the care of the ill and needy. Vivian worked at Faries, and Mueller Manufacturing Co. and Greiders Cafeteria. She also worked several years in the offices of the Decatur and Chicago Signal Depots, and retired from Civil Service. Vivian enjoyed sketching, painting, and her flower gardens. She leaves her brother-in-law and wife Charles & Earline Inman of Decatur, IL and nephew William (Sara) Inman of Normal, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandparents, and half-brother. The family would like to thank Dr. Fritz and Comfort Keepers Home Care for the care and compassion given to Vivian during her illness. "
