Vivian Hope Songer, 92, of Forsyth, IL, passed away at 12:25 p.m. Friday, December 24, 2010, at Imboden Creek Living Center.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 29, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery, Decatur.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.Vivian was born on July 30, 1918, in Centralia, IL, the daughter of William and Laura (Hirsch) Johnson. She married H. Glenn Townsend in November 1941. He preceded her in death on January 11, 1974. She later married Charles Songer in June 1979. He preceded her in death on January 16, 2009. Vivian was a member of Forsyth United Methodist Church for many years. She was the former Village Clerk of Forsyth for over 20 years. She enjoyed singing with the Sweet Adelines for many years.Surviving are her sons Michael G. Townsend and wife Carol of Argenta, IL and Daniel B. Townsend of Spokane, WA; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, son James P. Townsend, and five sisters. "
