Virginia L. Griffin, 91, of Decatur, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025 at home surrounded by her family.
Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at First Free Will Baptist Church, 2709 N 27

St, Decatur, IL. Funeral Service will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, September 25, 2025 at the church. Burial will follow in Cerro Gordo Cemetery. Memorials in Virginia’s honor may be made to First Free Will Baptist Church.
Virginia was born April 10, 1934 in Decatur the daughter of Frank and Lorena (McKinney) Vest. She married Jack Dean Griffin on April 9, 1953. He preceded her in death on September 18, 1995. Virginia was always a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a friend to all she knew. She enjoyed knitting and knitted many baby blankets, outfits and booties for all of her family and friends. She was an active member of First Free Will Baptist church in Decatur, where she worked in the nursery and taught Sunday School.
Surviving are her daughter, Joy (David) Pittman of Decatur; son, Gary (June) Griffin of Decatur; grandchildren: Sarah (Jay) Lucas, Seth Pittman, Stephen (Rebecca) Pittman, Shawna Pittman, John Griffin and Dawn Griffin; great-grandchildren: Billy, Asher, Griffin, Cayden, Wesley, and Aubrey; and brother-in-law, Lyle Shoraga of Bloomington.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack; and sister, Donna Shoraga.
