Virgil C. Stolz, 77, of Decatur, IL., passed away at 4:57 A.M. on Sunday (10-25-2009) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday (10-27-2009) at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home with visitation two hours prior to service time. Burial will be held at Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Arrangements are being handled by Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers: memorials may be made to the Scovill Zoo.Virgil was born on January 10, 1932 in Lincoln, IL., the son of Virgil F. Stolz and S. Frances (Agnew) Stolz. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Loretta Elizabeth Anderson on August 12, 1951 in Decatur, IL.Virgil was a member of First United Methodist Church, a retired Decatur Police Officer, retiring in 1982 with the rank of Sergeant. He was a member of the Korean War Veterans (Order of the Charles Parlier), Elks B.P.O.E. #401, American Legion Post #105, V.F.W. Post #99, and belonged to the Police Benevolent.He is survived by his wife Loretta of 58 years of marriage of Decatur, IL.; children: Rebecca Sue Hardimon and husband Kevin of Herrick, IL., Donald F. Stolz and wife Peggy of Decatur, IL., and William C. Stolz and Sheila of Elizabethtown, KY.; seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents.
