Vernon Meyer

Vernon J. Meyer, 79, of Decatur, IL, joined his loving wife Judy on Friday, March 18, 2016. Services will be held at a later date. Memorials may made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes are assisting the family. Vernon was born on December 21, 1936 in Decatur, IL. He married Julia J. Hartsell on September 22, 1956. She preceded him in death on September 18, 2015. Vernon worked for A&P grocery store for 16 years, and A.E. Staley for 35 years as a boilermaker. He was a member of the Monday night Staley Golf League where he got a hole in one at Faries #17, Staley Bowling Team and Staley Baseball League, and was an Eagle Scout. He enjoyed drafting, woodworking, fishing, boating and spending time on the lake with his children and grandchildren. Surviving are his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and sister Patricia Slifer. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother, one sister and one grandson. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Heritage Manor for their loving care. Vernon was loved and will be missed by all. "
