Verle Janes

Verle L. Janes, 90, of Decatur, IL, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2019, at her residence. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 4, 2019, at Grace United Methodist Church, Decatur, with visitation two hours prior to service time at the church. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, Decatur. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the T.V. Ministry and/or the Church Bus Fund at Grace United Methodist Church. Verle was born October 20, 1928, in Hannibal, MO, the daughter of Verl Leroy and Thelma Lucille (Yount) Darnell. She married James W. Janes on January 18, 1947 in Clarksville, MO. He preceded her in death in 1991. Verle was a very active member of Grace United Methodist Church, including volunteering with “Pieces of Love” a hand-made blanket project, also: “God’s Beautiful Daughters”. She was a UMC Certified Lay Speaker and was formerly V.P. of C.O.N.O. She is survived by one son: Randy Janes and wife Nancy of Mt. Zion, IL, 4 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and one sister: Shirley Boyer, of Toledo, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her sister Doris.
