Vera Babcock

Funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at the Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Cerro Gordo. Visitation will be from 4 - 7 PM Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Cerro Gordo. Burial will be in Cerro Gordo Cemetery.In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Oakley Brick Church of the Brethren or the Cerro Gordo Ambulance Service.Vera was born November 30, 1915, in Harristown, IL, the daughter of Harry and Gladys Marie (Durham) Tussing. She married Lorin E. Babcock in Decatur, IL on January 19, 1935. On March 4, 1996, Lorin, preceded her in death.Vera is survived by her daughter, Nancy Hadden of Cerro Gordo; son, David Babcock and wife Linda of Oswego, IL; sisters, Harriett Stogsdill and Sharen Carlson both of Decatur, IL; grandchildren: Kathy Rudelich and husband Tom of Acworth, Georgia, Diana Gisinger of Milmine, IL,Betty Gosda and husband Mark of Cerro Gordo, IL, Christy Babcock of Des Plaines, IL and Merilee McLaughlin and husband Blair of Scottsdale, AZ and several great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.Vera was preceded in death by both parents; husband, Lorin; sister, Lenore Boyd; brother, Orville Tussing; and granchild Roger Hadden.Vera was a graduate of Argenta High School. She was a homemaker and life time church member. She attended Oakley Brick Church of the Brethren and enjoyed music, playing the piano at church, and needlework.Her family will remember how devoted she was to her family and will always treasure their memories of their time spent with her.
