Velma M. Simpkins, 96, of Decatur, IL died, Sat., May 16, 2009 at Fair Haven Christian Home, Decatur, Il. At 3:12P.M.Funeral services for Mrs. Simpkins will be conducted Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 12:00PM at the Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, where friends may call one hour before the service. Burial will be at Harristown Cemetery.Memorials maybe made to the Galilee Baptist Church.Mrs. Simpkins was born July 11, 1912 at Vera, IL, the daughter of William Otis and Cora Jane Lawler Doyle. She married John Simpkins , July 9, 1932 at Vera, IL, he preceded her in death.She was a member of the Galilee Baptist Church. Mrs. Simpkins enjoyed fishing and the outdoors.She is survived by three children; Lyle D. Simpkins and wife Julie , Shirley Ramsey and Husband Orbley and James Simpkins all of Decatur. Brother; Robert Doyle and wife Lois of Decatur and two sisters; Marie Penny and husband Lenny of Jacksonville, IL and Wanda Foder and husband Albert of Pittsfield, IL. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Nineteen great-grandchildren and eighteen Great-great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews.Preceded Mrs. Simpkins in death were her parents, husband, one infant son, one great-grandchild, four brothers and five sisters..Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, will be handling the arrangements.Condolences may be left to the family at www.brintlingerandearl.com "
