Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M., Friday, July 24, 2009 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation from 11:30 to 1:00 P.M., prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Memorials may be made to Moundford Free Methodist Church Library.Velma was born June 16, 1914, in Beecher City, IL, the daughter of Lawrence and Lola (DeVore) Syfert. She married Herbert W. Deibert on June 9, 1940 in Brownstown, IL.Velma was a Lifetime member of Moundford Free Methodist Church, was very active in her church and taught Sunday school. She was a teacher for over 30 years, starting at Hight School in Hervey City and then at Brush College. Velma loved playing board games and crossword puzzles.She is survived by her children Jerrie Fisher of Decatur, IL, Brenda Smith and husband Myron of East Peoria, IL, Roger Deibert and wife Sally of Doylestown, PA; grandchildren Tami Mikell and husband Frank of Springfield, IL, Todd Fisher and wife Micaela of Hinsdale, IL, Tyler Smith and wife Crystal of Bloomington, IL, Shane Smith and wife Leslie of East Peoria, IL, Travis Deibert and wife Katy of Doylestown, PA, Clinton Deibert of Doylestown, PA; great grandchildren Chandler, Grayson, Sutton, Quincy, Brock, Wesley, Reagan, Steven; sister Eileen Clark of Decatur, IL.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, three sisters and son-in-law Jack Fisher.Condolences may be left to the family at www.brintlingerandearl.com.
