Veera Kriisa

Visitation will be from 6 - 8 PM, Monday, September 1, 2008 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday September 2, 2008 at First Lutheran Church, 250 W. Decatur St. Burial will be at Fairlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to First Lutheran Church or St. Marys Hospital.Veera was born on March 25, 1923, in Tallinn, Estonia. She married Harri Kriisa in 1946 and they immigrated to the United States in 1949. She was preceded in death by her beloved Harri and her sister, Leena Juul.Veera is survived in the USA by her daughters Mare Leo (Richard) and Tiina Kriisa-Leo (Timothy) of Rochester, NY; son Toomas (Jan) of Decatur, Illinois; 9 grandchildren Gail (Dee), Erik, Ty (Laura), Mark, Brian, Liisa, Kristofer, Isak, Peeter, 1 great grandchild, Fiona and in Estonia by her brother Boris, sister Ira, many cousins, nephews, and nieces.Veera was actively involved with First Lutheran Church in Decatur and the International Club. She was a frequent contributor to countless county fairs across the state and an avid fan of opera and U of I sporting events.
