Van A. Silver, 85, of Decatur, born December 25, 1929, born again spiritually February of 1978, flew away to Jesus, his Lord and Savior and took his first breath in Heaven on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Imboden Creek Living Center, Decatur. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 29 at Body of Christ Ministries, 2199 W. Ridlen Road, Macon, IL. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 28 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Graveside services will be at Hammond Cemetery, Hammond, IL. Following the graveside services, everyone is invited to a luncheon at Hammond United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to Body of Christ Ministries or U of I Civil Engineering Dept. Van was born December 25, 1929, in Decatur, son of Henry Ward and Maude Nellie (Van Vleet) Silver. He married Margaret A. Fisher-Mull on April 9, 1982, in Champaign, IL. Van was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a member of Body of Christ Ministries, life member and Fellow of A.S.C.E., and a life member of Illinois Society of Professional Engineers (I.S.P.E.). Van was a prolific writer and wrote many professional articles for engineering. Surviving are his wife of 33 years Margaret of Decatur, IL; sons: Henry Ward Silver and Kurt Frederick Silver, both of St. Louis, MO; daughters: Mary Gretchen Silver and husband Warren of Chicago, IL, and Heidi Vanessa Pacuilla and husband Nicholas of Vienna, VA. Also surviving are seven grandchildren. Van was preceded in death by his parents. "
