CUSTOM DEATH NOTICE Tyler L. Brown, 29, of Decatur, IL, died Thursday, September 27, 2012. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at First Christian Church, 3350 N. MacArthur Rd., Decatur, IL, with visitation 5 to 8 P.M., Monday, October 1, at the church. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, will be handling the arrangements. Tyler was born August 3, 1983 in Decatur, IL, the son of Terry Lynn and Mickey Lynn (Dusthimer) Brown. He is survived by his father and mother, Terry and wife Mickey of Decatur, IL; sisters Monica Courtright and husband Troy of Shelbyville, IL, Megan Shelsta and husband Nate of Decatur, IL; maternal grandparents, Don and Pat Dusthimer of North Ft. Myers, FL; nephews Zachary Courtright, Elijah Courtright, Trenton Courtright, and Nicholas Shelsta; and his beloved dog Smokey. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Herman Lyle (Babe) and Shirley Brown of Cowden, IL. Tyler was an amazing person, full of hopes and dreams. Tyler attended Johns Hill and Warrensburg-Latham. Having started playing hockey at a young age, Tyler was ecstatic to be able to continue playing hockey at Eastern Kentucky University. Tyler graduated from EKU with a degree enabling him to pursue his passion for fire science. He was certified as a fire investigator by the National Association of Fire Investigators and the International Association of Arson Investigators. Tyler enjoyed sports, camping, vacationing, and spending time with his dog Smokey. Tyler would have appreciated the quote from Tielhard de Chardan, "We are not human beings having a spiritual experience, but spiritual beings have a human experience."
