Thurman R. Gaitros, 84, of Cerro Gordo, IL, passed away Monday, June 27, 2016 in Decatur, IL.Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 30, 2016, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Burial will be in Cerro Gordo Cemetery, Cerro Gordo, IL, with military rites conducted by the Cerro Gordo American Legion Post #117.Memorials may be made to The Brethren Church of Cerro Gordo or Cerro Gordo American Legion Post #117.Thurman was born October 9, 1931 in Cerro Gordo, IL, the son of Dan and Arva (Eubank) Gaitros. He married Annabelle Sites on May 26, 1952 in Cerro Gordo, IL.Thurman was a member of The Brethren Church of Cerro Gordo. He worked at ADM for 45 years and retired as Plant Manager in 1995. Thurman loved to fish and hunt and enjoyed being outside and gardening. He especially loved spending time with his family. Thurman was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 117 in Cerro Gordo.He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Annabelle; children Gayle Gaitros of Decatur, Tony (Donna) Gaitros and Scott (Brenda) Gaitros, all of Cerro Gordo; 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; brothers Edward (Iris) Gaitros of Pekin, IL, Charles (Charlotte) Gaitros of Old Fort, OH, Don (Vicky) Gaitros of Waco, TX; sisters Katie Woodmansee of Homer, IL, Marie Gallagher of Columbus, GA; several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers George, Pete, Carl, Daniel, and sister Hazel.The family appreciated all the kindness, care and attention at McKinley Court, including his nurses, CNA’s and sitters. "
