Thomas M. Cordts, 77, of Forsyth passed away May 6, 2024.
Funeral service will be 12:00 PM, Monday, May 13, 2024 at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 3465 N MacArthur Rd, Decatur. Visitation will be 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, Monday at the church. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery. Memorials in Tom’s honor may be made to: First Congregational United Church of Christ, or Macon/Moweaqua Ducks Unlimited.
Tom was born September 13, 1946 in Tuscola, the son of Vernon and Marvel (Harshbarger) Cordts. He married Paula Koyak on August 9, 1969 in Decatur. She preceded him in death on February 25, 2024. Tom owned and operated his own handyman business for several years. He enjoyed hunting, especially ducks and pheasants. He also liked gardening and was passionate about cooking. Tom most enjoyed time spent with his family. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited, Golden Kiwanis, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Millikin Alumni Association and First Congregational United Church of Christ.
Surviving are his son, Matthew Cordts of Forsyth; daughter, Valerie (Brandon) Janvrin of Forsyth; grandchildren: Hannah (fiancé Alex), Emma, Reed, Isaiah, and Quincy; sisters: Julie Shipton of Palatine and Roz (Ken) Bruce of Springfield; and brother-in-law, Michael Koyak.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 55 years, Paula; and brother, Fred Cordts.
