Funeral mass will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, July 7, at St. James Catholic Church. Visitation will be 4-8 P.M. Sunday, July 6, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 3:45 P.M.. Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery, Long Creek. Memorials may be made to St. Jude or to the Decatur Core Salvation Army.Tom was born November 6, 1927, in Decatur, the son of Bernard J. and Florence Marie (Appenzeller) Brinkoetter. He married Jacqueline M. Cook June 6, 1949, in Decatur. Tom was employed by A.E. Staley Mfg. Co. from 1949-1958. He started selling real estate in August of 1954. He formed Tom Brinkoetter & Co. in April of 1965. He owned and operated this until his retirement in January of 1993, when his daughter Carla took over the business. In 1977, Tom started the Tom Brinkoetter & Co. Property Management.He was a member of the Decatur Association of Realtors, the Illinois Association of Realtors, and the National Association of Realtors. In 1981, he was Secretary of the Illinois Association of Realtors. Tom was named Decatur Realtor of the Year in 1983, and was the Dean of Illinois Realtors Institute for three years. He served on several committees with the National, Illinois, and Decatur Association of Realtors. He was the Past President of the Decatur Association of Realtors in 1967 and the Past Chairman of the Decatur Multiple Listing Service in 1966. Tom was a graduate of the Illinois Realtors Institute G.R.I, a certified Residential Salesman C.R.S., and a certified Residential Broker C.R.B.Tom was a member of St. James Catholic Church his entire life. He was also a member of the Metro Chamber of Commerce, Golden K Kiwanis, American Legion Post #105, and K of C #577.Tom is survived by his wife Jackie of Decatur; children: Carla J. Brinkoetter and husband Terry Smith of Decatur; Connie J. Ewing and husband Kevin of Decatur; Thomas A. Brinkoetter and wife Patricia of Decatur; grandchildren: Adam J. Trent, James R. Trent, Alyssa A. Brinkoetter, and Joseph A. Brinkoetter; great grandchild: Emmit Trent; sisters: Evelyn F. Lonergan of Jacksonville; Dorothy M. Raver and husband Dwight of Decatur.
