Thelma "Peg" Ruddock Carter, 92, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 9:35 a.m. Monday, August 29, 2011 at Bement Healthcare Center, Bement, IL. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, September 1, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Hammond Cemetery, Hammond, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to DMH Auxiliary or Bement Healthcare Center. Thelma was born January 6, 1919, in Hammond, IL, the daughter of Hugh "Pete" Ruddock, Sr. and Metta Ethel (Woodsen) Ruddock. She married James L. Carter on September 20, 1942, in Missouri. He preceded her in death. Thelma worked at Caterpillar from 1954 to 1984, in the payroll department, retiring after 31 years of service. She was a volunteer for the DMH Auxiliary and worked in the coffee shop at DMH for several years. Surviving are three nieces and one nephew, two great-nieces, two great-nephews, and special care givers Chris and Cindy Kerns, and Larry and Shirley Shook. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Hugh Ruddock II, and sister Pauline Bobbet. The family would like to give special thanks to everyone at Bement Healthcare Center for the special care given to Thelma. "
