Terry L. Rigdon, 76, of Decatur, passed away September 10, 2026 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
A Celebration of Terry’s life will be held at Rocco's (1933 S Taylorville Rd, Decatur, IL, 62521) at 1:00 PM on Sunday, October 4, 2026.
Terry was born November 8, 1949 in Decatur, the son of Thomas E. and Mary L. (Sutherland) Rigdon. He married April Nichols on May 29, 1976 in Decatur and she preceded him in death on November 3, 2012. He proudly served our country in the United States Marines for 10 years.
After his service, Terry started D&R Services which was the first company in Decatur to own and operate a directional boring machine. D&R did work for companies like Ameritech and Terry proudly operated the company for 25 years. Terry was also proud that he did snowplowing at St. Mary’s Hospital for 30 years. Terry then transitioned D&R Services to a trucking company that worked with UCM in Decatur. Terry was a proud owner-operator member of IBEW Local 146 in Decatur.
Terry enjoyed hunting with his son, daughter and granddaughters and best friend Tim Roach. He had a houseboat on Lake Shelbyville and loved spending time on the lake and at Findlay Marina. Terry also enjoyed spending time with his grand-dog, Hazel, a pointer.
Surviving are his children: Krystal Rigdon (Kim Wierman) of Elwin and Terry (Carrie) Rigdon of Wentzville, MO; grandchildren: Angelique, Brayden, Adelaide, and Josephine Rigdon; and two sisters.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 36 years, April.
