Terrilyn “Teri” A. Kajander, 78, of Decatur, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur, with funeral services immediately following at 1:00 p.m. Cremation rites will be arranged after services in accordance with her wishes. Memorials may be made to the Northeast Community Fund, 839 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr., Decatur, IL 62521. A Celebration of Life Reception will follow the services.
Teri was born November 20, 1947, in Madison, Wisconsin, to Clifford M. and Doroleen Lavaine (Smethurst) Sheets. She graduated from Stephen Decatur High School in 1965 and later graduated with high honors from Richmond Community College. She married Joseph F. Flies on June 11, 1966, in Dubuque, Iowa, and later married Gareth Kajander in Decatur. She retired from ADM after working in several positions and had also served as an administrative assistant at Decatur Memorial Hospital and A.E. Staley Manufacturing.
Teri loved football and was an avid Green Bay Packers and Fighting Illini fan. She enjoyed boating, dancing, traveling, horseback riding, and having lunch with friends. Known for her generous heart, she enjoyed volunteering and helping others. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her four sons, Richard (Tara) Flies of Geneseo, IL, David Flies of Cary, IL, Joe (Melissa) Flies of Walworth, WI, and Darrik (Ana Baez) Kajander of St. Louis, MO; six grandchildren, David Flies, Jordan Flies, Clayton Flies, Brooklyn Flies, Emily Flies, and Aadia Kajander; one brother, David Sheets of Mt. Zion, IL; three sisters, Lesley (Gary) Lamb of Plano, TX, Laurell (John) Dwiggins of Neenah, WI, and Loreen (Randy) Ranshaw of Ft. Wright, KY; sister-in-law- Kathy Sheets of Seattle, WA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Derrow Sheets.
