Tamara Sue Rushton, 59, of Decatur passed away peacefully December 7, 2018 surrounded by her family. A memorial service will be held at 6:30 PM, Wednesday, December 12 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, with visitation from 4:30-6:30 at the funeral home. Memorials in Tamara’s honor may be given to Decatur Public Schools Foundation. Tamara was born January 16, 1959 in White Heath, IL, the daughter of Terry and Yvonne (Conley) Cresap. She married Robert Rushton on January 9, 2000. Tamara was a special education teacher for over 30 years, working at Illiopolis and Decatur Public Schools. Most recently, she taught at MacArthur High School. She was passionate about helping her students succeed. Tamara was an avid reader and enjoyed going to garage sales and the beach. She is survived by her husband, Robert; parents, Terry and Yvonne Cresap of Georgia; daughters, Julie Hudson and Sarah Hudson, both of Decatur; brother, Terry Cresap, Jr (Laura) of Colorado; and sister, Trisha Smith-Paxson (Chad) of Georgia; and 9 grandchildren. Tamara was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.
