Sylvia Elayne "Mrs. K" Erickson, 95, of Decatur, Illinois entered into the presence of Jesus and gained everlasting life on Thursday, September 03, 2015. Sylvia was born September 30, 1919 to William Andrew Hanson and Pearl Martin Hanson, the sixth of eight children. Her childhood years were spent on a homestead in South Dakota. She married the love of her life, Kenneth Warren Erickson, in 1939. They moved to Decatur in 1941, where they pastored the Foursquare Church until his death in 1965. She earned her ordination in 1954 and was conferred an honorary Doctor of Divinity in 1973. She continued to minister in the church and community until 2011. Mrs. K was blessed with opportunities to visit missionary friends in many parts of the world and was especially involved in the building of churches in Nigeria. Grateful for being part of her legacy are her three daughters: Lonni Newcome (Jim), Lori Catron (Pastor David), both of Decatur, and Lenn Gomez (Duane) of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; grandchildren Kari Newcome Tucker (Matt), Dr. Kristin Newcome Hesse (Ted), both of Decatur, Eric Catron (Julie) of Franklin, Tennessee, Karli Catron Stevens (David), of Greenville, South Carolina, Kayli Catron Albert (Kevin) of Santa Cruz, California, Ken Gomez of Columbus, Ohio, Alyssa Gomez Lawrence (Jon) of Howard, Ohio, Katy Gomez of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; great grandchildren Jeffrey Tucker (Hope), Zachary and Eliana Hesse, Anna and Isaac Catron; sister Winnie Kunst (Lorentz) of St. Peter, Minnesota, and friends from all over the world. She joins her husband, two great grandchildren, Natalie and Will Tucker, her parents, and brothers and two sisters in heaven. Her love, wise counsel, sense of humor, spiritual strength, and prayers will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends at Life Foursquare Church on Monday, September 7, from 5-8 p.m. A Funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 10:00 a.m. at Life Foursquare Church conducted by family members and officiated by Pastor Steve Hohm. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery, Decatur. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Life Foursquare Church. "
