Susan Kay Crawford

Susan Kay Crawford, 78, of La Place, Illinois, passed away at her home on Saturday, July 18, 2026.
A memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Cerro Gordo, Illinois. In accordance with her wishes, cremation rites will be arranged. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Susan was born on August 1, 1947, to Chilles and Thelma Katherine (Thomas) Lakin. She married Robert B. Crawford on June 15, 2001, in Las Vegas, Nevada; he preceded her in death on August 7, 2025.
Susan worked for the United States Postal Service for many years, serving as Postmaster at the La Place Post Office until her retirement in January 2026. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, and reading.
She is survived by her daughter, Trisha (Jeff) Nicholls of Decatur, IL; two sons, John Lenox of Naples, FL, and Jason Sloan of Decatur, IL; and three grandchildren, Kayla (Dakota) Paradee of Colorado Springs, CO, Sarah (Tim) Jiminez of Colorado Springs, CO, and Alania Sloan of Decatur, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Robert B. Crawford and Vern Sloan; and one brother, Larry Lakin.
