Steven Earl Morgret, 67, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at 6:55 p.m. in Decatur, Illinois. Steve was born in Decatur, IL on June 13, 1947 at St. Mary's Hospital to Roy E. and Irene M. (Goldstein) Morgret. Steve attended Maroa-Forsyth High School and he attended Devry Technical Institute in Chicago, IL where he studied drafting and design. He served as a Medic in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war. During his time, he received a Purple Heart. He began his working career at Ornamental Ironworks, followed by Sunbeam Bakery in Decatur, and finished at Canteen Vending, where he worked for many years. Steve is survived by his fiancee Sue Hale, sisters, Carol Yarnell of Manitowoc, WI, Mary L. Johnson of Latham, IL, and Brenda Morgret. He regretfully leaves his two children, Matthew Morgret (Kyra Evans) of Decatur, IL and Joy Morgret of Nashville, TN, and their mother, Pam (Schneider) Morgret, grandchildren Omari and Kyliyah Morgret of Decatur. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, many aunts, uncles, and other relatives and friends. Steve enjoyed his numerous cups of coffee at Mr. Donut, Harold's House of Donuts, Tops Big Boy, and most recently at Gabby's. There were few quiet moments when Steve was around as he always succeeded in making others laugh as he had a quick tongue and a great sense of humor. He was an avid sports fan and always cheered for the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Bears. He spent many years enjoying bowling with his friends, running Joy and her friends around, and spending quality time with others. His grandchildren were very special to him as he enjoyed watching Omari play baseball and taking Lili for ice cream after school. He leaves behind many special friends but duly noted, cousin Sid Tucker and brother-in-law, Tom Schneider. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 5 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5-7 P.M. Thursday, June 4 at the funeral home. The family requests casual attire. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to Macon County Honor Guard. Steve will be very deeply missed by all who knew him as he lit up every room he walked into. The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to those who were quick to take action Sunday night during his cardiac arrest and the staff at DMH. "
