Steven S. Brown, 95, of Decatur, IL, passed away 5:25 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2012, at McKinley Court Care Center, with his family by his side. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, at Salem Baptist Church, Decatur. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 23, at the church. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown, with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes, are assisting the family with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salem Baptist Church Building Fund. Steven was born June 29, 1917, in Olney, IL, the son of Elmer and Winnie Brown. He married Dorothy F. Payne on June 26, 1943 in Morganfield, KY. Steven was a WWII Army veteran, receiving the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Army Good Conduct Metal. He was a 50 year member of Salem Baptist Church. Steven was an ordained minister and would often fill in at the pulpit and was involved with the visitation ministry, visiting nursing homes, hospitals and those shut-in. Steven was a retired Airmail clerk with the USPS. He enjoyed watching sports and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Surviving are his wife Dorothy of 69 years, of Decatur; sons Rick (Kathy) Brown of Covington, GA, Dennis Brown of Decatur, IL, and Steven (Angie) Brown of Rock Hill, SC; two grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; brothers Dean (Shirley) Brown of Clay City, IL and Paul (Dorothy) Brown of W. Frankfort, IL; and sister Noma Inglesten of FL. Steven was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters. "
