Steve Willoughby, 76, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Willoughby was born May 16, 1947, in Decatur, the son of Glenn and Gernetta (Ted) Willoughby. After attending Arthur Senior High School and Southern Illinois University, Steve graduated from St. Louis University Law School. His career practicing law in central Illinois spanned 50 years.
Friends and family may have long forgotten that Steve was a black belt. However, if they were fortunate enough to hear the way he made his banjo sing, they surely remember and long for a little more bluegrass.
Surviving are his former wife Patty (Gerhardt) and their children Gavin (Jessica), Mebame, North Carolina, and Danielle (Ryan) Bender, Illiopolis, Illinois, 3 grandchildren, siblings Debbie (Leon) Wilson, Champaign, Illinois, and Michael (Sue) Willoughby, Lawrence, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
