Stephen M. “Whit” Whitfill, 69, of Oakley, IL., passed away on Thursday (06-27-2019) in Buncombe, IL. A Memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday (07-09-2019) from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Wounded Warrior Project. Stephen was born on March 22, 1950 in Fairbury, IL, the son of Charles Michael Whitfill and Betty Mae (Scurlock) Whitfill. He married Becky J. Martin on August 23, 1980 in Lincoln, IL. He served his country in Vietnam in the United States Marine Corps. Whit worked as clerk at the Illinois Terminal. He was the owner/operator of the “Whits End” and French West Liquor. Whit also worked at D.M.H. as Medical Equipment Manager for ten plus years. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and was a Legionnaire in Cerro Gordo, IL., Whit loved four wheeling, motorcycling, doing yard work and playing pickleball. He is survived by his wife: Becky of Oakley, IL., three children: Heather L. Blakesley and husband George of Johnstown, OH; Kelly M. Chornyak and husband Joe of Powell, OH; Aaron M. Whitfill and wife Patrice of Forsyth, IL.; Three siblings: M. Michele Paternoster and husband Jim of Fairbury, IL; Douglas L. Whitfill and wife Sally of Mt. Zion, IL.; Tymori A. Slade of St. Charles, IL; and six grandchildren: Mackenzie, Grace, Will, Harper, Jax, and Khloe. He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law Richard L. Martin.
