Stephen Michael Hathaway, 71, formerly of Decatur, IL, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2016, at Christus Santa Rosa, West Over Hills Hospital in San Antonio, TX. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, June 27, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cerro Gordo Cemetery, Cerro Gordo, IL. Stephen was born December 2, 1944 in Decatur, IL, the son of Earl Wayne and Florya Bernice (Eppley) Hathaway. He worked for the IBEW as an Electrician in California, Nevada and Washington. Stephen enjoyed rebuilding motorcycles and cars, collecting Harley-Davidson, classic Oldsmobile’s and Chevy’s. He is survived by his children: Cynthia (Thad Payne) of San Antonio, TX, Stephen (Charlotte) Hathaway, Jr. of Washington State; siblings: Richard (Sherry) Hathaway, Suzanne Hathaway Marquardt, Louis Eugene (Debbie) Pitts, all of Decatur; nieces and nephews: Doug and Mike Hathaway of Decatur, Scott Morenz of Denver, CO, Gabriel Pitts of Decatur, IL, Ian Pitts of Indiana, Kerry and James Naughton of Wilmington, IL; cousins: Carol Gates Wight of Arkansas, Gloria Gates Cooley of Mattoon, IL, Lyman Lindell Eppley, and Connie Sue Eppley, both of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandfather: Earl Hathaway; grandparents: Vera & William Bowen; grandparents: Florya Rose & Samuel Eppley; sister: Marcella Hathaway Naughton; aunts: Doris Bowen Cash, Bettie Eileen Hathaway Brown; uncles: Lyman "Lindy" Eppley, Daniel Bowen; step father: Oscar Lewis Pitts; and nephew: Richard William Hathaway.
