Sonny Belton

Sonny Belton, 84, of Decatur, died at 11:58 AM Monday, May 27, 2019, at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Cremation rites will be accorded. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements. Sonny was born January 18, 1935, in Decatur, the son of Walace and Mary Eunice Gribbions Belton. Following his service in the U.S. Navy, he was employed for 42 years, as a carpet layer for Gentry’s Rug and Carpet Service, retiring in 1997. He was a member of the Church of God and the former Moose Lodge of Decatur. He married Deloris Jean Musgraves in Decatur on November 27, 1953. She survives. He also leaves 3 sons: Barry Belton, of Decatur; Walace (Georgia) Belton 3rd and Bart Belton (Jacira) Belton, both of Arlington, TX; 1 daughter: Brenda (Harvey) Garvin, of Keller, TX; 2 sisters: JoAnn Page, of Decatur; and Janice (Ron) Thomas, of Arthur, IL; 4 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 1 son: Bret, and 1 sister. "
