Sona L Nichols, 83, of Cerro Gordo, passed away Friday, May 17, 2013 at 8:25 am in Decatur Memorial Hospital. Sona was born December 21, 1929 to Marcus and Wilma (Stuller) Woollen on a farm 2 miles west of Cerro Gordo, IL. She graduated from Cerro Gordo High School in the Class of 1946. Memorial service will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Cerro Gordo. Inurnment will be at Cerro Gordo Cemetery in Cerro Gordo. Memorials: Charity of the Donor's Choice She married Frank B. Peters and later married Keith Nichols. They preceded her in death. Sona was employed by General Telephone, Montgomery Ward, and Cerro Gordo State Bank. She was a member of the Cerro Gordo United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary and Royal Neighbors of America. She served on the Village Board as Trustee and was a Township Trustee. Her parents, sisters Virginia Gregory and Marla Woollen, and brothers, Buzz Woollen and Chuck Woollen preceded her in death. Sona was fond of watching Illini Basketball, music and sharing a good story or joke. Her kindness was only matched by her quick wit and humor. Sona leaves behind many cousins,nieces and nephews and special friends and neighbors. She will be especially missed by her dear friends, Rosemary Woollen, Ruth Woollen, Jan Dobson, Barb and John Baker, Dave Stewart and her very special nieces Connie Bruns, Jill Stewart and Melissa Bajric. The family would like to thank the team on 4100 that cared for her in her last days. Sona commented on their kindness and compassion. "
