Shirley J. Williams, Decatur, passed away on July 7, 2014 at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Shirley was born on May 3, 1928, in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. She was the daughter of John Anton and Frances Ione (Monroe) Waeger. She was raised in Sarcoxie, Missouri. Shirley married Richard H. Williams on August 28, 1954. They had three children: Kristina Ann, Richard Monroe, and Mac Douglas. Dick's job with Western Electric took them across the country, but they settled in Decatur in 1966. Shirley was a faithful volunteer over the years. She gave her time to the Good Samaritan Inn, First United Methodist church, and Meals on Wheels, among others. She was a lifetime member of the Baum Elementary PTA. Shirley is survived by her daughter, Kris, of Bloomington, son Rick (Becky), of Decatur, and brother Mac, of Tulsa, OK. She also leaves behind her granddaughters Hannah (Paul) Medley, of Mt. Zion, Holly (Chris) Guy, of Decatur, and two precious great-grandsons, Josh and Dexter Medley, of Mt. Zion. Her furry best friends, Sydney and Roxy, also survive. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dick, in 2012, and her son, Mac, in 1983. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation one hour before service time at the funeral home.
