Shirley C. Wells, 84, of Oakley, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2024.
Visitation will be 1:00 – 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home Decatur. Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in West Frantz Cemetery, Oakley, IL.
Shirley was born December 2, 1940 in Casey, IL, the daughter of Coy and Ellen (Wright) Handley. She married Clyde Wells. Shirley worked for Borg Warner, Cimco and Kraft and worked at Hucks Food Store. She enjoyed reading and loved to travel. She was always ready to get in the car and go and loved visiting her children. Shirley was also an avid fan of classic country music and loved any song with a piano.
Surviving are her daughters: Cathy (David) Hardesty of Decatur and Carla Wells of Oakley; grandchildren: John Wells, Shana (Matt) Hunsaker, James Wells, Sarah Wells, Cydney Manns, and Zaydyn Wells; great-grandchildren: Christopher Wells, Shawn Wells, and Shania Wells; and sisters: Karen (Jerry) Walters of Mattoon and Margaret Duzan of New York.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; sons: Eric Wells and Bradley Wells; two infant children; grandson, Michael Wells; brothers: Carl and Richard Handley; and sister, Janice Davis.
Shirley’s family wishes to extend a special thank-you to past and present staff of Piatt County Nursing Home for their excellent and loving care for Shirley over the years.
