Shirley J. Steele, 81, of Decatur, IL, died 2:58 P.M., Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur, IL. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, September 12, 2011, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Memorials may be made to The Friends of Macon County Child Advocacy Center, 164 N. Edward St., Decatur, IL 62522. Shirley was born December 25, 1929, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Albert J. and Leota D. (Dennis) Masters. She married Kenneth E. Steele on February 15, 1948 in Clinton, IL. He preceded her in death in 2009. Shirley was a member of Northwest Christian Church and a volunteer at the food pantry and the clothing room at the church. She is survived by her brother-in-law Lee Steele and wife Lavonne of Puyallup, WA; nieces Lisa of Puyallup, WA and Linda of Tacoma, WA; nephews Michael Steele of Puyallup, WA and Joe Masters of LaPlace, IL; extended family Tom and Fran Cantwell and family of Decatur, Cody and Jean Moore and family of Decatur, Tracy Hood and Tiffany Wilkerson-Hood and family of Decatur, Scott and Patti Rose of St. Louis, MO, and Lana Mazeika of Mt. Zion, IL.; great nephew Randy McKown of Phoenix, AZ; godson Kenneth Wayne Thompson and wife Diane and family of Decatur. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth, brothers Art, Joe and Dennis, and niece Joanne McKown. "
