Shirley O'Brien

Shirley J. O'Brien, 84, of Decatur, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 21, 2016.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 25, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, with visitation one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to DMH Hospice.Shirley was born June 21, 1931, in Carlinville, Illinois, the daughter of Clinton C. and Vernice Mitchell Giberson. They moved to Decatur in 1935. She married Donald G. O'Brien on January 21, 1951 in Decatur and he preceded her in death July 31, 2011. She graduated from Decatur High School in 1949. Shirley retired from Illinois Power Company. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Decatur, The Class of DHS 1949 Reunion Committee, the Decatur Power Squadron Auxiliary, and the Decatur, Macoupin County, Montgomery County and Illinois Genealogy Societies. She is survived by her son David M. (Erica) of Moweaqua, grandchildren Aaron (Jessica) Augustine, Ronald Augustine, Kirstin O'Brien, Gabe O'Brien, great-grandchildren Zaydin Augustine, Kellen Augustine and Keelan Rice. She is also survived by a sister-in-law B. Darlene Perry of Decatur. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Joseph Spencer, and husband Donald. "
