Shirley Holmer

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, April 24, 2010, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation 6 to 8 P.M., Friday, April 23, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Memorials may be made to Alzheimers Association.Shirley was born March 29, 1934, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of George and Birdie (McCray) Curtis. She married Garland Wayne Holmer on January 23, 1955 in Decatur, IL. He preceded her in death on March 31, 2001. Shirley was a 40 year member of Northwest Christian Church, Decatur, IL. She graduated from Stephen Decatur H.S. in 1952. Shirley worked at Mueller Co. until her children were born and later as a bookkeeper at Field-Shorb & Bachrachs warehouse after her children went to school. She was the First President of the PTA at Benjamin Franklin School, a member of the PTA Chorus and a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts. She is survived by her son Mark S. Holmer and wife Mary Lou of Argenta, IL; daughter Pamela S. Forrester and husband Glen of Palm Harbour, FL; granddaughters Holly J. McFadin and husband Chad of Decatur, IL and Heather N. Payne and husband Kevin of Williamsburg, VA; brother David Curtis and wife Wanda of Mt. Pleasant, IA.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother George Curtis. "
