Shirley Ann (Hamm) Christison Clarkson, 92, of Oakley, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Oakley Brick Church of the Brethren. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the church. Burial will take place in West Frantz Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
Shirley was born on September 24, 1933, in Decatur, the daughter of Russell and Eleanor (Brown) Hamm. She graduated from Cerro Gordo High School. She married Ray Christison Jr. on February 14, 1953, at the Oakley Brick Church of the Brethren; he preceded her in death on May 24, 1997. She later married Carrol Clarkson on July 18, 2004, also at the Oakley Brick Church of the Brethren; he preceded her in death on July 1, 2025.
Shirley enjoyed quilting, bird watching, and baking—especially creating wedding cakes for many in the community. She was a devoted member of the Oakley Brick Church of the Brethren and was active in the women’s fellowship group. Known for her kindness and gentle spirit, she loved being around others and cherished time spent with her grandchildren and family.
She is survived by her children: Mary Jo (Billy) Bishop of Milford, MI; Diane (Tim) Sills of Cerro Gordo; and Michael (Missie Elizabeth) Christison of Oakley; thirteen grandchildren; several great‑grandchildren; sisters Kathy (Michael) Gentry of Oakley and Judy Earl of Carmel, IN; sister‑in‑law Margaret Hamm of Oakley; daughter‑in‑law Angela Christison of Oreana; son‑in‑law Patrick Mundy of Decatur; step‑son Wayne Clarkson of Cerro Gordo; six step‑grandchildren; five step‑great‑grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and extended family—Becky Kuizinas of Decatur, Chuck Lange of Cape Girardeau, MO, and Brenda Gaitros of Cerro Gordo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; her son, Steven Ray Christison; her daughter, Cheryl Mundy; her brother, David Hamm; and sisters Sonna Hall and Carol Seidenstricker.
