Sheri Sue Allison, 56, of Decatur (formerly of Forsyth), went to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, January 21, 2018, while in her apartment at Tanglewood Village. Sheri was born on December 10, 1961, in Decatur, Illinois, the daughter of Scott Douglas Allison and Linda Sue (Wolf) Allison.Sheri attended Brush College Grade School and Decatur Christian School. She graduated from Mt. Zion High School. Sheri had a variety of work experience, having worked in restaurants, the animal shelter, and a pet store. Most recently, Sheri worked at the ADM Hydroponics Plant for 13 years. In 1992, it was discovered that Sheri unknowingly had double vision and, for years, had been compensating for it. A nationally known ophthalmic surgeon, who was about to retire, asked Sheri to be the subject of a medical teaching video about his work. Sheri participated, on stage in Chicago, to questions and exams by ophthalmic students. That session and the successful surgery, that the Surgeon later performed on Sheri’s eyes, were part of the video. Sheri happily participated in Tanglewood’s Book Club and enjoyed demonstrating her baking skills in Cooking Class. She particularly loved hearing other residents share their memories and stories of the past. Sheri looked forward to the local group trips that Tanglewood offers. As a world traveler for several years, Sheri visited many famous attractions in France, Italy, Canada, Mexico, and the Bahamas. She also visited 26 states. Of foremost importance to Sheri was her personal relationship with God. Sheri was always praying for her family and friends. She attended Riverside Baptist Church and missed going to Riverside when her recent illnesses prevented it.Sheri is survived by her mother, Linda Sue of Forsyth; sister, Lesa Lee Hassinger (Mark) of Maroa; nephew Brandon Scott Allison and his wife, Elena Santomenna of St, Louis; nephews Paul Hassinger of Illiopolis and Brodie Hassinger of Maroa; and niece Elisabeth Hassinger of Maroa. Sheri was preceded in death by her Father. On Thursday, January 25th, Visitation will be 11 a.m. – 12:00 at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, 2827 N. Oakland, Decatur. A Service to honor Sheri’s memory will be held 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. Burial at North Fork Cemetery will follow.Sheri dearly loved her four-legged friend, “Penny Poodle.” In lieu of flowers, the Family suggests contributions be made to the Macon County Animal Shelter.
