Sharon Ann Rambo was surrounded by her family when she was peacefully called home to the Lord on March 3rd, 2026, at the age of 82 in Decatur, Illinois.
She is survived by her three sons (and spouses) – Darrin (Tricia) Rambo, Thomas Rambo, and Leonard (Emelie) Rambo; 10 grandchildren (and spouses) – Nikki (Bryan), Justin (Bettina), Caitlyn, Rachel (Nicholas), Haley (Stef), Jason (Chad), Baylee, Emma, Max and Charlie; 9 great grandchildren – Jonah, Owen, Cade, Tye, Miles, Elijah, Beckett, Lukah, and Theodore. She is also survived by her sister, Kathleen Fisher-Eugeni (Carl), her brother, David Hanley (Kathy), and many special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Doris Hanley; brother, Jimmy Hanley; her first husband of 25 years, Norman Rambo; and her second husband of 10 years, Buster Powell.
Sharon was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri on August 1st, 1943, until moving to Decatur, Illinois in 1959. She graduated from St. Teresa High School in 1961 and that same year started working for A & P Grocery Store. In 1964, she married Norman Rambo and together they owned and operated Rambo’s Tavern from 1964-1984. The tavern was sold and she started working as an election coordinator for William Tangney and Steve Bean. Her first husband Norman died in 1988. She retired in 2003, and married Buster in 2007.
Sharon’s favorite things to do were to cook, bake cookies, and have family get togethers. Her biggest accomplishment is her three sons and the beautiful families they created.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, March 20th, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and immediately followed by a mass at 11:00 am. Services will be held at St. Thomas Catholic Church located at 2160 N Edward St, Decatur, Illinois 62526. Burial will follow the service in St. John’s Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Sharon’s name to the Wounded Warrior’s Project. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
